From My Favorite Hi de Song Hurry Go Round

Example

Tsuka no ma ni imi nado

Shiriuru sube mo naku
Tada azayakasa dake
Kinou ni kakenuketa

there was no way in that short time
that I would find a meaning
only brightness
running through yesterday

Here's a more literal translation (neither are mine, the following was just offered impromptu by my coworker Ikuya):

Actually, this is a man. He was a singer, by the name of Hide (hee-day). As anywhere, the women here vary notably. Most women who work in shops and offices wear knee-length skirts and button up blouses. Teenaged girls wear their school uniform, even on the weekends, here where I am but in the cities they wear all kinds of things, sometimes costumes of their favorite characters, sometimes t-shirts and pants, it all depends. The old ladies here often wear hats you would find on "hippes" in California, and they can be seen zipping around on scooters. Almost all women wear makeup. As for cuteness, many are, some aren't. Same as usual.

My ex-boyfriend Masami used to take way longer to get ready for going out than I. Hair dryer, eyebrow tweezers, bracelets and sometimes barettes. He would come out and say, "How 'bout this?" like four times before deciding.

The Writer

Wooden boats, musical instruments and fireworks are some of the best inventions. And cameras. I don't believe in following any one person or set of ideas. There are tiny satiations like orchids along the viny forest floor, blooming unseen, more gorgeous than some could keep from weeping over. Whenever I see the occasional sun rise the colors always surprise me like the flavor of tahini in Holland. Subway cars make great rhythm along the tracks, as does wind in treebranches, the sound pattern of running engines, and sometimes clothes in a dryer. I like Sumerian poetry.
